# WriteControl vs Sudowrite

The clearest difference is review sentiment: WriteControl at 86% against Sudowrite's 24%. WriteControl also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Sudowrite's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (394 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WriteControl sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.90 per month and Sudowrite sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sudowrite holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sudowrite has 394 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of WriteControl's written reviews are positive against 24% of Sudowrite's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WriteControl ships an update weekly, Sudowrite every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
