# WriteControl vs KnitKit

The clearest difference is update cadence: WriteControl at weekly against KnitKit's fortnightly. WriteControl also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WriteControl sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.90 per month and KnitKit sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WriteControl ships an update weekly, KnitKit fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
