# Gutenberg Project vs HopeScroll

The clearest difference is review sentiment: HopeScroll at 100% against Gutenberg Project's 41%. HopeScroll also leads on rating (5.0 vs 3.3) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months). Gutenberg Project's advantage is ratings volume (43 vs 4) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gutenberg Project sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and HopeScroll sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HopeScroll holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gutenberg Project has 43 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 41% of Gutenberg Project's written reviews are positive against 100% of HopeScroll's.

Gutenberg Project ships an update every 2 months, HopeScroll every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
