# Ampère Mobile vs Lighting Calculations

Ampère Mobile and Lighting Calculations both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 60% of Lighting Calculations's written reviews are positive against 25% of Ampère Mobile's. Lighting Calculations also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). Ampère Mobile's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lighting Calculations sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 3 months. Ampère Mobile asks for nothing beyond the download.

Ampère Mobile holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lighting Calculations has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Ampère Mobile's written reviews are positive against 60% of Lighting Calculations's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ampère Mobile ships an update every 11 months, Lighting Calculations every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
