# Mac Tools vs SEC10

The clearest difference is update cadence: SEC10 at every 5 months against Mac Tools's every 23 months. SEC10 also leads on ratings volume (5 vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). Mac Tools's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mac Tools holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SEC10 has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Mac Tools ships an update every 23 months, SEC10 every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
