# BeFree vs Hush

BeFree and Hush both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Hush's written reviews are positive against 43% of BeFree's. Hush also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). BeFree's advantage is ratings volume (392 vs 77) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BeFree sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Hush sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for BeFree against 4.7 for Hush. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BeFree has 392 ratings behind it against 77, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 43% of BeFree's written reviews are positive against 100% of Hush's.

BeFree ships an update every 3 weeks, Hush every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
