# MiPlayer vs BoxPlayer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: BoxPlayer at 93% against MiPlayer's 59%. BoxPlayer also leads on ratings volume (61 vs 1) and device support (4 vs 2). MiPlayer's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MiPlayer sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and BoxPlayer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MiPlayer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BoxPlayer has 61 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of MiPlayer's written reviews are positive against 93% of BoxPlayer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MiPlayer ships an update weekly, BoxPlayer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
