# Focalist vs Shortcuty

The clearest difference is monetization model: Focalist at free against Shortcuty's free with in-app purchases. Focalist also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 91%). Shortcuty's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (40 vs 2). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Focalist sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month and Shortcuty sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Focalist against 5.0 for Shortcuty. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shortcuty has 40 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Focalist's written reviews are positive against 91% of Shortcuty's.

Focalist ships an update every 3 weeks, Shortcuty weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
