# Lantern Center vs ref

The clearest difference is ratings volume: ref at 9 against Lantern Center's 1. On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Lantern Center against 4.9 for ref. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ref has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
