# SPI vs SPECTRAL

The clearest difference is ads: SPI at none against SPECTRAL's shown. SPI also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). SPECTRAL's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SPI sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and SPECTRAL sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for SPI against 4.8 for SPECTRAL. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 4 respectively.

SPI ships an update every 6 weeks, SPECTRAL every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
