# Parrot vs Cryptic Coach

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cryptic Coach at 100% against Parrot's 45%. Cryptic Coach also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). Parrot's advantage is ratings volume (17K vs 2) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Parrot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Cryptic Coach sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Parrot holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Parrot has 17K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of Parrot's written reviews are positive against 100% of Cryptic Coach's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Parrot ships an update every 6 days, Cryptic Coach weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
