# Parrot vs VerbPal

The clearest difference is monetization model: VerbPal at freemium against Parrot's subscription. VerbPal also leads on ads (none vs shown). Parrot's advantage is ratings volume (18K vs 5) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Parrot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and VerbPal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Parrot against 4.6 for VerbPal. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Parrot has 18K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Parrot ships an update weekly, VerbPal every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
