# Chapter vs Holy Doomscrolling

The clearest difference is monetization model: Chapter at free with in-app purchases against Holy Doomscrolling's subscription. Chapter also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). Holy Doomscrolling's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chapter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Holy Doomscrolling sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chapter holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Holy Doomscrolling has 15 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Chapter ships an update fortnightly, Holy Doomscrolling every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
