# Small Bites vs Bold

The clearest difference is ads: Small Bites at none against Bold's shown. Small Bites also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). Bold's advantage is ratings volume (64 vs 10). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Small Bites sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Bold sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Small Bites holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bold has 64 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Small Bites's written reviews are positive against 94% of Bold's.

Small Bites ships an update weekly, Bold every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
