# Wick vs Study with Athena

The clearest difference is monetization model: Wick at free against Study with Athena's subscription. Wick also leads on rating (4.3 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (72 vs 7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wick sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Study with Athena sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Wick holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wick has 72 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Wick ships an update every 8 days, Study with Athena weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
