# Word World vs Cipher Genius

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Word World at none against Cipher Genius's 10. Word World also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (1.1K vs 2). Cipher Genius's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cipher Genius sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Word World asks for nothing beyond the download.

Word World holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Word World has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Word World's written reviews are positive against 100% of Cipher Genius's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Word World ships an update weekly, Cipher Genius every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
