# Key vs TextSentinel

The clearest difference is rating: Key at 5.0 against TextSentinel's 3.0. Key also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16). TextSentinel's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 days). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Key sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and TextSentinel sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Key holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 2 respectively.

Key ships an update every 3 days, TextSentinel every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
