# Emma vs Vocabulary Builder

The clearest difference is ads: Vocabulary Builder at none against Emma's shown. Vocabulary Builder also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 80%) and iOS requirement (15.4 vs 17.0). Emma's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Emma sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days and Vocabulary Builder sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Emma ships an update weekly, Vocabulary Builder every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
