# Recap vs SmartNote

The clearest difference is update cadence: SmartNote at every 5 days against Recap's every 2 weeks. SmartNote also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 42%) and device support (3 vs 1). Recap's advantage is ratings volume (82 vs 10). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Recap sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and SmartNote sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.1 for Recap against 4.2 for SmartNote. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Recap has 82 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 42% of Recap's written reviews are positive against 50% of SmartNote's.

Recap ships an update every 2 weeks, SmartNote every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
