# Cogni vs iSpeak

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: iSpeak at none against Cogni's 9. iSpeak also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Cogni's advantage is ratings volume (1.7K vs 1) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cogni sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. iSpeak asks for nothing beyond the download.

iSpeak holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cogni has 1.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Cogni ships an update every 9 days, iSpeak every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
