# Flashback vs Tricky Minds

The clearest difference is ads: Tricky Minds at none against Flashback's shown. Tricky Minds also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 18 months) and review sentiment (50% vs 33%). Flashback's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flashback sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Tricky Minds sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Flashback holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 33 and 52 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Flashback's written reviews are positive against 50% of Tricky Minds's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Flashback ships an update every 18 months, Tricky Minds monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
