# HEPIQ vs Edison

The clearest difference is rating: Edison at 5.0 against HEPIQ's 1.3. Edison also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). HEPIQ's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (5.3K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Edison holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HEPIQ has 5.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HEPIQ ships an update every 2 weeks, Edison every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
