# Webroot VPN vs i9VPN

The clearest difference is ads: Webroot VPN at none against i9VPN's shown. i9VPN's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Webroot VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $59.99 per year and i9VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

i9VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: i9VPN has 195 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Webroot VPN ships an update every 4 months, i9VPN every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
