# Contingency Zero vs PaperTrail

The clearest difference is update cadence: PaperTrail at every 3 days against Contingency Zero's monthly. PaperTrail also leads on ratings volume (16 vs 2). Contingency Zero's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Contingency Zero sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and PaperTrail sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Contingency Zero holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PaperTrail has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Contingency Zero ships an update monthly, PaperTrail every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
