# Shimmer Browser vs Simple Notes

The clearest difference is update cadence: Shimmer Browser at every 6 days against Simple Notes's monthly. Simple Notes's advantage is iOS requirement (17.6 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shimmer Browser sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Simple Notes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shimmer Browser ships an update every 6 days, Simple Notes monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
