# Lantern vs Velocity Runner

The clearest difference is update cadence: Lantern at weekly against Velocity Runner's monthly. Lantern also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lantern sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Velocity Runner sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Lantern ships an update weekly, Velocity Runner monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
