# Mandolin Sim vs Simple Trumpet

The clearest difference is rating: Mandolin Sim at 5.0 against Simple Trumpet's 4.3. Simple Trumpet's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mandolin Sim sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Simple Trumpet sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mandolin Sim holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simple Trumpet has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mandolin Sim ships an update every 3 months, Simple Trumpet every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
