# Purpose Journal vs DoomWalk

The clearest difference is monetization model: DoomWalk at freemium against Purpose Journal's subscription. Purpose Journal's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 2) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Purpose Journal sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and DoomWalk sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Purpose Journal against 5.0 for DoomWalk. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Purpose Journal has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Purpose Journal ships an update every 4 days, DoomWalk every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
