# GoPass vs This Machine

The clearest difference is update cadence: This Machine at weekly against GoPass's every 3 months. This Machine also leads on review sentiment (63% vs 49%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). GoPass's advantage is ratings volume (87K vs 230) and rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

GoPass holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GoPass has 87K ratings behind it against 230, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of GoPass's written reviews are positive against 63% of This Machine's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GoPass ships an update every 3 months, This Machine weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
