# 174 Player Plus vs Hopium

The clearest difference is rating: 174 Player Plus at 5.0 against Hopium's 4.2. Hopium's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (34 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 174 Player Plus sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Hopium sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

174 Player Plus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hopium has 34 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

174 Player Plus ships an update every 4 months, Hopium every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
