# Nova Short vs Staread

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Nova Short at 100% against Staread's 41%. Nova Short also leads on rating (4.8 vs 2.5) and ads (none vs shown). Staread's advantage is ratings volume (71 vs 4) and chart position (#178 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nova Short sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $69.99 per year and Staread sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Nova Short holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Staread has 71 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Nova Short's written reviews are positive against 41% of Staread's.

Nova Short ships an update every 4 weeks, Staread fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
