# HOM Essence vs TextPort

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HOM Essence at none against TextPort's 10. HOM Essence also leads on iOS requirement (12.2 vs 16.0). TextPort's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 2 weeks) and rating (4.4 vs 4.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TextPort sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. HOM Essence asks for nothing beyond the download.

TextPort holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TextPort has 1.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HOM Essence ships an update every 2 weeks, TextPort daily. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
