# Block Blast vs Word Connect

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Block Blast at none against Word Connect's 8. Block Blast also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 90%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 26.0). Word Connect's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word Connect sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Block Blast asks for nothing beyond the download.

Word Connect holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 12 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Block Blast's written reviews are positive against 90% of Word Connect's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Block Blast ships an update every 3 months, Word Connect every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
