# Gloss Up vs Prettier

The clearest difference is monetization model: Gloss Up at free with in-app purchases against Prettier's subscription. Prettier's advantage is ratings volume (752 vs 94) and review sentiment (11% vs 0%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gloss Up sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Prettier sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Gloss Up against 4.5 for Prettier. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prettier has 752 ratings behind it against 94, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 0% of Gloss Up's written reviews are positive against 11% of Prettier's.

Gloss Up ships an update every 3 days, Prettier every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
