# Sermon Scribe vs ScriptureWriter

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ScriptureWriter at none against Sermon Scribe's 10. Sermon Scribe's advantage is ratings volume (1.5K vs 1) and update cadence (every 6 days vs fortnightly). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sermon Scribe sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. ScriptureWriter asks for nothing beyond the download.

ScriptureWriter holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sermon Scribe has 1.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sermon Scribe ships an update every 6 days, ScriptureWriter fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
