# Shaw Elite vs BarPath

The clearest difference is monetization model: BarPath at free with in-app purchases against Shaw Elite's subscription. Shaw Elite's advantage is ratings volume (10 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.2). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shaw Elite sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and BarPath sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Shaw Elite against 5.0 for BarPath. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shaw Elite has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shaw Elite ships an update monthly, BarPath every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
