# Mahjong Haven vs Merit Gaming

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Mahjong Haven at 12K against Merit Gaming's 3. Mahjong Haven also leads on iOS requirement (14 vs 17.0). Merit Gaming's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 76%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mahjong Haven sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Merit Gaming sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Merit Gaming holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mahjong Haven has 12K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 76% of Mahjong Haven's written reviews are positive against 100% of Merit Gaming's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
