# StepCounter vs Stride

The clearest difference is update cadence: Stride at every 3 days against StepCounter's every 9 days. Stride also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StepCounter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Stride sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

StepCounter ships an update every 9 days, Stride every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
