# Skylight Social vs Open Caption Finder

Skylight Social and Open Caption Finder both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Open Caption Finder's written reviews are positive against 35% of Skylight Social's. Skylight Social's advantage is ratings volume (1.4K vs 10) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Open Caption Finder holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Skylight Social has 1.4K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 35% of Skylight Social's written reviews are positive against 100% of Open Caption Finder's.

Skylight Social ships an update fortnightly, Open Caption Finder every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
