# Cupcake vs Idol Empire

The clearest difference is monetization model: Idol Empire at free with in-app purchases against Cupcake's subscription. Idol Empire also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months). Cupcake's advantage is review sentiment (32% vs 23%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cupcake sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per 7 days and Idol Empire sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Idol Empire holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Idol Empire has 1.3K ratings behind it against 162, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Cupcake's written reviews are positive against 23% of Idol Empire's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cupcake ships an update every 2 months, Idol Empire every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
