# Luna Reader vs MyScribe

The clearest difference is ads: MyScribe at none against Luna Reader's shown. MyScribe also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). Luna Reader's advantage is ratings volume (40 vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Luna Reader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and MyScribe sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MyScribe holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Luna Reader has 40 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Luna Reader ships an update every 3 days, MyScribe weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
