# TrainsFYI vs Headway

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Headway at 100% against TrainsFYI's 57%. Headway also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium). TrainsFYI's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (93 vs 5). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TrainsFYI sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Headway sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TrainsFYI holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TrainsFYI has 93 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of TrainsFYI's written reviews are positive against 100% of Headway's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TrainsFYI ships an update monthly, Headway every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
