# Dead Format vs WAX.LIVE

The clearest difference is update cadence: Dead Format at weekly against WAX.LIVE's every 5 weeks. Dead Format also leads on ratings volume (108 vs 7) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.2). WAX.LIVE's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Dead Format against 5.0 for WAX.LIVE. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dead Format has 108 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Dead Format ships an update weekly, WAX.LIVE every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
