# Crunchyroll vs LUMEN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: LUMEN at 100% against Crunchyroll's 32%. LUMEN also leads on rating (5.0 vs 2.9). Crunchyroll's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (daily vs every 3 days). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crunchyroll sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $13.99 per month and LUMEN sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LUMEN holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Crunchyroll has 48 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 32% of Crunchyroll's written reviews are positive against 100% of LUMEN's.

Crunchyroll ships an update daily, LUMEN every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
