# Screencat vs Focado

Screencat and Focado both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Screencat's written reviews are positive against 60% of Focado's. Screencat also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 weeks). Focado's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 3). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screencat sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year and Focado sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Screencat against 4.8 for Focado. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focado has 1.1K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Screencat's written reviews are positive against 60% of Focado's.

Screencat ships an update every 2 days, Focado every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
