# Screencat vs BlockRot

Screencat and BlockRot both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Screencat's written reviews are positive against 62% of BlockRot's. BlockRot's advantage is ratings volume (505 vs 3). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screencat sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year and BlockRot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Screencat against 4.7 for BlockRot. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BlockRot has 505 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Screencat's written reviews are positive against 62% of BlockRot's.

Screencat ships an update every 2 days, BlockRot daily. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
