# Freed vs Protocol 90

The clearest difference is monetization model: Protocol 90 at free with in-app purchases against Freed's subscription. Protocol 90 also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6). Freed's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (129 vs 23). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Freed sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Protocol 90 sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Protocol 90 holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freed has 129 ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Freed ships an update every 6 days, Protocol 90 fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
