# Fathom vs Literature Bites

The clearest difference is monetization model: Literature Bites at freemium against Fathom's subscription. Literature Bites also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 69%). Fathom's advantage is ratings volume (507 vs 2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fathom sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Literature Bites sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Literature Bites holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fathom has 507 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 69% of Fathom's written reviews are positive against 100% of Literature Bites's.

Fathom ships an update weekly, Literature Bites every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and September 19, 2026 respectively.
