# Fathom vs Undumb

The clearest difference is monetization model: Undumb at freemium against Fathom's subscription. Undumb also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Fathom's advantage is ratings volume (507 vs 3). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fathom sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Undumb sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Undumb holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fathom has 507 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
