# Transform vs SelfControl

The clearest difference is monetization model: Transform at freemium against SelfControl's subscription. Transform also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.6). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Transform sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and SelfControl sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Transform against 4.8 for SelfControl. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 26 and 12 respectively.

Transform ships an update every 3 weeks, SelfControl every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
